The History of FAIR

FAIR, which stands for Fabbrica Armi Isidoro Rizzini, was founded in 1971 in Val Trompia near Brescia by Isidoro Rizzini. The foundation of the company's approach is to combine the expertise of traditional craftsmanship with the latest in advanced technology. Today, FAIR is Italy's second-largest maker of over/under shotguns, after Beretta.

The company specializes in the production of over-and-under and side-by-side sporting and hunting rifles, as well as semiautomatic versions of shotguns. Some of their recognized models include the SAFARI, COMBI, and the K 500 rifle series, the SSX12 semiauto shotgun, the ISIDE side-by-side series, and a vast array of over-and-under competition and hunting shotguns such as LINCOLN GAME, PREMIER, SLX 600 in different variants, SLX 692, JUBILEE, and others.

Nowadays, the FAIR factory is equipped with state-of-the-art CNC machinery, which guarantees the smallest possible tolerances of components and allows for the interchangeability of a great number of parts. However, a lot of handwork goes into the actual assembly of the rifles. Custom stocks are available together with custom engravings and numerous other options to personalize the firearm to one’s personal preferences.

FAIR guns are marketed in the US by the Italian Firearms Group. In Canada, their trap/skeet models, combination guns, and single-shot rifles have been highly sought after since their exclusive importing began in 2007. The factory is currently managed by Luca Rizzini, the son of the founder Isidoro Rizzini.

FAIR ISIDE Safari Rifle Review

The FAIR ISIDE Safari is a double side-by-side rifle that is available in three grades which differ in action engravings, extraction type, and the possible addition of side plates, which are only available on the Prestige model. The reinforced action and mono-block barrel coupling ensure that the rifle is durable and can withstand the harshest of conditions.

The ISIDE Safari is optics-ready and comes with cutouts on the upper rib that can be used for mounting purposes. The V-notch sight on the rear end and high-visibility fiber optic sight on the front make it easy to acquire targets. The internal locks feature hammers with double safety notches, which ensure that the rifle can only be fired when intended. The opening lever is pierced for an aesthetically pleasing appearance, while the safety lever is positioned behind the opening lever, above the handle, and is easily operated with a thumb.

The FAIR ISIDE Safari has a single nonselective trigger, although double triggers are available. The single trigger is calibrated to fire the left barrel after the right barrel has been fired. This means that if the right barrel is empty or the cartridge misfires, the left barrel will not be fired when the trigger is pulled again.

Repeatable mounts take all advantages of detachable mounts to a new level. All the advantages of detachable mounts, which are:

Detachable mounts offer possibility to use multiple scopes on one rifle,
enable easy transportation of the scope and the rifle separately,
in an emergency if the scope fails you can immediately detach it and use iron sights are upgraded with,
100% repeatability, which means that you zero all your scopes only once and then you can use them on one rifle in any combination you prefer and as many times as you wish.

Such mounts are ideal for hunting rifles, where you can use the same rifles with different optics on many different types of hunts. The perfect combination of different optics on one rifle can be described in this fashion:

Red dot sight or wide angle riflescope for driven hunts,
1.5-6x42 or similar for stalking,
3-12x56 for low light hunting.
